Hamilton's Mercedes future influenced by Wolff decision
Lewis Hamilton says he is keen to learn if Toto Wolff will be staying at Mercedes beyond 2020 before committing his own future to the Silver Arrows.
Like Hamilton Wolff is on a contract that expires at the end of 2020 and the Austrian recently suggested that there was no guarantee that Mercedes would remain in F1 under Liberty Media's new regulations.
Wolff has also been linked with a potential switch to leading F1 if Chase Carey departs his role of CEO, but has previously denied that he would be interested.
Regardless, with Hamilton braced for the "confrontation" of his own contract talks, he says Wolff's thought-process could well influence his own.
"He is, and has been, close to perfect," said Hamilton of his team principal. "It's been the perfect match so naturally I don't want him to leave, particularly if I'm staying in the sport.
