Leclerc top as Ferrari outpace Mercedes again: German GP FP2 Results
Ferrari consolidated their one-lap advantage at the German Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc led Sebastian Vettel in the team's second one-two finish of the day at Hockenheim in FP2.
After Vettel led the way in FP1, it was Leclerc who went quickest in the afternoon session, although Lewis Hamilton was just a tenth down on the Monegasque in third.
Although FP2 is often an indicator for clues of the weekend ahead, this session may end up being barely representative of conditions in qualifying and the race, with rain and much lower temperatures forecast.
But it appears that Ferrari and Mercedes are certainly evenly matched, while Max Verstappen may have more time to make up, having encountered a loss of power during his short runs, which left him more than half a second off Leclerc, with Valtteri Bottas on a similar time after making errors on his run.
Pierre Gasly's session was one to forget as he wrecked his Red Bull crashing at the last corner.
Romain Grosjean was sixth fastest for Haas, running their original spec for 2019, suggesting that the team's upgrades may have been anything but in 2019, with Kevin Magnussen way down the order.
One team's updates seemingly having the desire effect is Racing Point, with Lance Stroll seventh-fastest, and Sergio Perez taking top-10 finishes in both of Friday's sessions.
