Emilia Romagna GP: Will F1 Sprint work at Imola?

Imola hosts the first of three F1 Sprint weekends this year with the Red Bull Ring and Interlagos set to follow later in the season.

Sprint qualifying was met with a mixed reception across the three events at which it was run in 2021, with the start often providing entertainment but action being limited beyond this.

In a bid to address this, F1 has upped the points on offer in the Saturday race with the top eight rewarded rather than just the top three.

As was the case last term, the points available reduce by one per position, with the victor securing eight.

With passing notoriously difficult at Imola and greater rewards on offer on Sunday, however, it remains to be seen just how much drivers will be willing to risk early in the weekend.
