Mercedes and Red Bull reach deal over Hodgkinson move

Hodgkinson will now join Red Bull Powertrains in May

Mercedes has finally agreed a deal with regard to the transfer of Ben Hodgkinson to Red Bull after his move was announced in April last year.

Hodgkinson was one of the first high-profile signings confirmed by Red Bull as it looks to build its new powertrains division in Milton Keynes.

After a two-decade stay at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, where Hodgkinson went on to hold the position of head of mechanical engineering, he will now join Red Bull on May 24 as the powertrain division's new technical director.

"Mercedes F1 and Red Bull F1 today reached an agreement regarding the appointment of Ben Hodgkinson," said Mercedes and Red Bull in a joint statement.

"Under the terms of that agreement, Ben, who joined Mercedes in August 2001, will be free to join Red Bull Powertrains from 24 May 2022."
