Red Bull "unique" and "totally different to what I was used to" - Perez

Sergio Perez has revealed this year's Red Bull is "unique" and "totally different" to what he was used to driving in F1.

The Mexican has endured an indifferent season, with the highs of his win in Baku and two further podiums met with the lows of error-strewn weekends leaving him behind even Lando Norris in the drivers' standings.

After stating the difficulty of being Max Verstappen's team-mate as the Dutchman was "at one with the car", Perez expanded on the reasons for his first-season struggles.

“We’ve got a unique car in a way and it hasn’t been easy," said Perez.

"But you need to be mentally very strong after each day and that is one of my strengths, to take the most out of it and try to get the maximum out of every Sunday.”

On what makes the RB16B unique, Perez explained: “In the way that it is totally different to what I was used to.

"Some drivers find it easier to adapt than others. I’ve had a difficult process to adapt to the car but nothing too dramatic, nothing that stands out. It’s obviously a very good package and a very competitive one.

“Max is showing that this car is, if not the best, one of the best out there.”
