Should half points have been awarded for the Belgian Grand Prix?

Decision to do so has caused controversy

GPFans Staff

The decision to award half points for the Belgian Grand Prix has led to considerable criticism.

It is only the sixth time in F1's 71-year history half points have been issued, although on the previous five occasions the fans in attendance at least saw racing.

At the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, F1's rain-soaked followers saw nothing but four laps in total behind the safety car, with no actual racing taking place.

Lewis Hamilton believes the only reason the drivers were sent out on track in the treacherous conditions was that "money talks".

McLaren CEO Zak Brown appreciates that while the rules have been adhered to on this occasion, he feels a precedent has been set that now requires a review as to what constitutes a race.

So take part in our poll below and let us know whether it was the right call to award half points, and make sure you post a comment in the section further down.

Was it right for half points to be awarded in the Belgian GP?
