Met Police issue fresh appeal after Norris robbery
Met Police has issued a fresh appeal for information and witnesses to come forward following McLaren driver Lando Norris' recent mugging after the Euro 2020 final.
Norris was left shaken after being confronted by two men who robbed him of his £40,000 Richard Mille watch as he returned to his car following England's penalty shoot-out defeat to Italy at Wembley Stadium.
Although one man has since been arrested in Liverpool on suspicion of robbery and bailed to return at a later date, detectives remain eager to hear from anyone who may have seen what unfolded.
A Met Police statement reads: "Detectives are appealing for information following a robbery in the vicinity of Wembley Stadium following the Euro 2020 final.
"Shortly after 23:50hrs on Sunday, 11 July, the victim - a 21-year-old man - left the stadium and returned to his car which was parked in the ‘yellow car park’ in nearby Rutherford Way.
"He was approached by two men who engaged him in conversation. A short time later he was assaulted and held by one of the men while his watch was removed from his wrist.
"The victim was understandably shaken but did not sustain any lasting injuries. Officers attended but the suspects had left the scene prior to their arrival."
The Met Police are particularly eager to speak to a man who claimed to have captured the incident on a dashcam but departed the scene before providing his details.
The police have also taken what they state is "the unusual step of releasing an image of the watch that was stolen. The design is distinctive and there are only a small number in circulation".
The statement adds: "Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has been approached with a view to purchasing the watch is urged to contact the investigation team on 0777 667 3655", while information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
Norris shook off the incident by going on to finish fourth in the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
