F1 fan lands dream prize after beating odds of 43,000-1
An F1 fan has beaten odds of 43,000-1 to land a dream prize that had not been won for two years.
Josh Fisher, from Glasgow, scored a perfect 10 out of 10 with his predictions on the officially-licensed F1 Play game for the Spanish Grand Prix to scoop a VIP trip to an F1 race next season.
Fisher's predictions included the likes of podium finishers, fastest lap, first retirement, winning margin and whether there would be a safety car.
“I am amazed that this has actually happened and it still hasn’t fully sunk in yet,” said Fisher, who started to consider what might be possible when AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda was the first to retire. “Then when Lewis [Hamilton] overtook Max [Verstappen] with six laps to go I was thinking about how I was sitting on eight out of 10," added Fisher.
"The two things I needed then were at least a 15-second winning margin and Max to get the fastest lap. Then Max pitted to get the chance at fastest lap and started flying.”
Verstappen duly collected the fastest lap, while Hamilton went on to win the race by 15.841secs. It is the first perfect score on F1 Play since the 2019 Austrian GP, landing Dutchman Bart Altenburg a trip to the United States GP where he met Max Verstappen. F1 Play is a free-to-play game. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store.
