Fancy a Vettel-owned supercar? Part of F1 champ's collection up for sale
Sebastian Vettel has collected some highly desirable cars throughout his Formula 1 career and now you can own one - if you have a few quid to spare!
Only last year Vettel bought Nigel Mansell's 1992 title-winning FW14B, spending somewhere in the region of £5million.
Now the 33-year-old has opted to sell eight of his supercar collection - five of which are Ferraris, with two already sold.
So if you fancy driving a car owned by a four-time F1 champion then here is your opportunity.
The sale is taking place through luxury car dealer Tom Hartley Jr who announced via his Instagram page that "we are very pleased to be able to share with you some of our latest arrivals, all coming directly from the collection of four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel. All these cars are located, registered and taxes paid in Switzerland."
As for what you could get your hands on, here is the available list:
2004 Ferrari Enzo [POA]
According to Hartley Jr, this is slated as "arguably the finest example offered for sale anywhere with only 1,790km from new. Benefits from a fantastic service history and Ferrari ‘Red Book’ Classiche certification". One of only 400 made, it features a 651hp 6.0-litre V12 engine. The fact it has no price tag says it all about this car.
2016 Ferrari F12TdF [£725,000]
In striking giallo [yellow], Vettel helped launch this 769hp car in 2015 at the Finali Mondiali event alongside then Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Again barely touched as it has only been driven for just 1,200km, and with many extras, including the Sebastian Vettel logo on the headrests.
2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale [£350,000]
Bought from new, this metallic black edition comes with a 4.5-litre V8 engine and generates 597hp. Just over 3,000km on this one.
2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG ‘Black Series’ [£275,000]
Again from new, this powerful Mercedes boasts 670hp from its twin-turbocharged V12 engine. This car was actually given to Vettel by the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix organisers after he won the event's first race in 2009. Rarely used as it has run for just 2,800km.
2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing [£175,000]
This was used as the F1 safety car from 2010 to 2012, so must have impressed Vettel enough at the time for him to purchase one. Resplendent with a 6.3-litre V8 engine, it comes with Magno Matte paint, carbon-ceramic brakes and a carbon-fibre interior. Just 6,928km from new.
2002 BMW Z8 Roadster [£175,000]
Vettel did not purchase this car until 2015, importing it to Switzerland from its previous US owner following which it was fitted with European-spec electronics. It carries a 4.9-litre V8 engine capable of 395hp. Although it has run for 21,700km, Hartley Jr claims it is "presented in fantastic condition throughout", hence the price tag.
And here is what you missed out on as they have already been sold.
2016 Ferrari LaFerrari
Described by Hartley Jr as "a very late production example and only 490km from new. Benefits from single ownership and a huge list of optional extras". This edition carries 950hp and carries a black interior. For extra authenticity, you get the Vettel logo on the seat headrests.
1996 Ferrari F50 [sold]
As close to an F1 car as you are likely to get as the 4.7-litre V12 was developed from Ferrari's 1990 challenger. Although now 25 years old, it has just 6,940km on the clock. Vettel bought this one in 2015.
