Stroll an Eifel GP doubt after missing FP3 through illness

Lance Stroll's participation in the Eifel Grand Prix has been put in doubt after the Canadian missed final practice through illness.
After all running was cancelled on Friday, 19 of the 20 cars took to the track at the start of final practice on Saturday morning at the Nürburgring but conspicuous in his absence was Racing Point driver Stroll.
Midway through the session, Racing Point issued a brief statement confirming the situation surrounding the Canadian.
"Lance Stroll is not feeling 100 per cent this morning and will therefore not participate at all in FP3," wrote the team on social media.
"His condition will be assessed after the session to evaluate whether he is fit to drive, at which point the team will confirm plans for qualifying."
No details of Stroll's condition have been released but, should he be unable to drive in qualifying, Nico Hulkenberg will return to the car for a second time this season, the German having replaced Sergio Perez for the two Silverstone races.
Hulkenberg is believed to have completed a Covid test on Saturday morning after receiving the call from the team and has arrived at the circuit.
Despite the arrival of the German at the Nürburgring, team principal Otmar Szafnaurer commented there is "no news yet" as to who will drive for the team in qualifying and the race.
