Haas summoned to race stewards over parc fermé breach

Work continued on Romain Grosjean's car despite being in parc fermé conditions

Haas have been summoned to the race stewards' office over a potential breach of parc fermé regulations.

Romain Grosjean failed to set a time in qualifying for the Styrian Grand Prix, but cars are placed under parc fermé conditions from the moment they roll out of the garage for the session.

Despite not setting a time, Grosjean did exit the pits, even if he returned immediately without completing a full circuit - a suspected ERS water pump issue curtailing his running.

Ahead of issuing the summons, the FIA noted: "Car number 08, driver Romain Grosjean, took part in Q1 by exiting the pitlane at 15:47:26hrs and was under Parc Fermé conditions from that time onwards as described in Article 34.2 of the 2020 Formula One Technical Regulations.

"The Haas F1 Team did not stop working on car number 08 three and a half hours after the end of the qualifying session at 20:16hrs on 11 July 2020; instead continued to work until 23:20 hrs on 11 July 2020.

"This is not in compliance with Article 34.4 of the 2020 Formula One Sporting Regulations.

"In addition to this, the work carried out during this time was not under the supervison of a scrutineer and therefore unauthorised work may have been carried out. This is not in compliance with Aricles 34.2 and 34.7 of the 2020 Formula One Sporting Regulations."
