Max Verstappen signs new deal with Red Bull
Max Verstappen has signed a new contract with Red Bull which will see him perform for his current team until 2023, stopping speculation that he could leave when his current deal expires at the end of the upcoming campaign.
The Dutchman is one of several high-profile drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, and Daniel Ricciardo whose contracts were up at the conclusion of the 2020 season, with rumours circulating that he could potentially move to Mercedes or Ferrari.
However, he has continually reiterated his desire to win a championship with Red Bull should the team and Honda prove themselves capable of proving him with a winning car. Now, he has committed for another three seasons, and posted on Instagram to react to the news.
"Very proud and happy to announce that Red Bull Racing will stay my home until 2023," he wrote.
Very proud and happy that @redbullracing will stay my home until 2023. We started this journey together and they have supported me from day 1. I want to win with @redbull and @HondaRacingF1, our goal is to fight for a World Championship together. The best is yet to come! #YesBoys pic.twitter.com/gal9QVTEFO

"We started this journey together and they have supported me from day 1. Honda coming onboard and the progress we have made over the last 12 months gives me even more motivation and the belief that we can win together.
"I want to win with Red Bull and our goal is of course to fight for a World Championship together. This long term commitment shows we believe in each other and the best is yet to come"
Verstappen is coming off the best season of his career in 2019 as he won three races in Austria, Germany, and Brazil before finishing third in the drivers’ championship.
