Italian Grand Prix Weather Forecast: Wet weekend expected in Monza

Italian Grand Prix Weather Forecast: Wet weekend expected in Monza

Matthew Scott

The rain seems set to have a significant say on the Italian Grand Prix weekend, with Friday and Sunday forecast to feature wet weather.

Qualifying prep may become tricky for the teams in Italy, with clear skies and significantly warmer temperatures found on Saturday.

Friday saw rain interrupt both practice sessions, while BBC Weather predicts that rain is 90% likely to land on Sunday through much of the day.

Sunday's F3 and F2 races were played out under clear skies, albeit with a slightly damp track after overnight showers.

Rain was expected over last year's Italian GP, but running went unaffected.

The last Monza event to run in the wet was 2017, when qualifying was heavily impacted, leaving Lance Stroll on the front row with Lewis Hamilton and Esteban Ocon a surprise third place for Force India.
