Gasly only focused on Toro Rosso, not Red Bull
Pierre Gasly insists that he is “fully focused” on performing for Toro Rosso this weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix, as he drives for his new team for the first time since being demoted by Red Bull.
After Daniel Ricciardo announced he would be leaving Red Bull in favour of Renault ahead of the 2019 season, Gasly stepped up as his replacement. However, it hasn’t worked out for the Frenchman as he has routinely, easily been bettered by team-mate Max Verstappen all season.
Even though Christian Horner and Helmut Marko continually defended their driver, the decision was ultimately made to drop him in favour of Alexander Albon.
Gasly now just wants to put the first half of the campaign behind him and concentrate on gaining as many points as possible for Toro Rosso.
“The summer break is over and I am back with my Italian family for the rest of the season and I’m happy to be working with Toro Rosso again," he said when previewing the Belgian GP.

"I’ve had a couple of weeks to rest and train to get ready for the nine upcoming races so I can give my best performance for the team.
"It was nice to have that time off to reflect on the first half of the season, but now I’m fully focussed on the rest of the season and ready to get going again,
He is currently sixth in the drivers’ championship, but is only five points ahead of Carlos Sainz in seventh, as well as 69 points adrift of Charles Leclerc in fifth.
