Steiner says drivers want to join Haas, but won't name names
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has revealed that a number of drivers, who he does not name, have approached him about potentially joining the team in the future.
It has been an abject season, to say the least, for the American outfit as not only are they ninth out of the 10 teams in the constructors’ championship, but they have continually made headlines for all the wrong reasons whether it be their controversial title sponsor or the numerous on-track spats between team-mates Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.
With Grosjean looking more likely than ever to depart at the end of the current campaign, Haas will be looking for someone new, which may be difficult as at the moment they arguably don’t project the atmosphere of a harmonious working environment.
However, Steiner says they are still able to attract competitive drivers.
"You always meet adversity in racing, but I think people see the hard work we put into finding solutions," Steiner told Ekstra Bladet newspaper.
"So people are still interested in driving for us because as a team we are not weak.
"Drivers still come and talk to us. We are not dead.
"We have had a number of challenges but we are a team that can grow even though we are going through difficult period. Right now it's just talk, so we have to wait a little longer,"
The team has accumulated just 26 points between their two drivers in 2019, with only the calamitous Williams having collected less, with one.
