Formula E doesn't want F1's problem
It's unlikely F1 want it either!
Formula E chief Alejandro Agag says he would to want to oversee a championship that has been dominated by one team, as Formula 1 has by Mercedes so far in 2019. As the Silver Arrows seek a sixth-straight title double in F1, they lead the standings after winning all six races so far.
Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have shared the race victories so far this year four to two, with Mercedes' run of one-two finishes only broken last time out in Monaco, as Bottas came third behind Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.
By contrast the ongoing season of Fe has been wildly unpredictable, with eight drivers having taken victory in 10 races so far.
With FE three rounds remaining, the drivers' championship's top five are separated by 21 points. By contrast Hamilton is already 55 points clear of third-placed Vettel in F1's drivers' standings.
"It's all very tight and the truth is that it is very good, it is a little too much how open it is, although I love it," Agag told As.
"But the opposite problem, which is what Formula 1 has now, I would not want that. Six races and six victories of Mercedes, five with one-twos."
FE is generally seen as being at the forefront of racing technology, especially in comparison to road relevance, compared to F1's petrol engines, and Agag says the all-electric series will not slow down in terms of development.
"I believe that innovation is fundamental, you always have to innovate," he said.
"The 'attack mode' that we have incorporated this year has gone very well and that will continue a lot.
"We will see what else we will do... I really like to play with lighting in the chassis of cars, we will see if we can do something more in that aspect apart from what is already in the Halo.
"We are always thinking about things to change the product all the time because people are now bored very fast."
