Leclerc: Reverse layout races "would be very cool"
Charles Leclerc is keen to experiment with racing in the reverse direction around tracks if this opens up the possibility to hold multiple races at a single venue.
Yes, there are a lot of reasons why you cannot race in the wrong way around a circuit, almost all of these to do with safety, but if they could be addressed properly, Leclerc thinks this "would be an interesting idea."
"You can always argue the fairness but at the end, we mostly need to look at the situation and make the most out of it, and this makes us race twice at the same track, then we should look at this possibility, to have as many races as possible," said Leclerc.
"I think I've seen something about races the other way around, that would be very cool. I think we would all rediscover the track, and it would probably be very different also car wise. This would be an interesting idea."
Ferrari struggled for pace during winter testing, setting the occasional eye-catching time while spending the majority of the sessions in the midfield.
The team were able to build performance into the car across 2019 but the current global situation will severely limit what is possible in terms of improvements, and Leclerc acknowledged that it may be a difficult season when things get going.

"It is going to be a difficult season for everyone because as soon as it starts, it's not going to stop, we won't have any breaks to develop the car more than the others, so I think the work on track will be extremely important, more than it has been other years because we will spend a lot of time on track when the season restarts," added Leclerc.
"It's going to be very important to be focused and ready from the first race on, as drivers, to give the right feedback to the team, and help the team in the right direction straight away."
