Vettel after Abu Dhabi: I must do better, I can do better
Sebastian Vettel admits he must improve his individual performances from this year after finishing the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in fifth.
While team-mate Charles Leclerc eventually gained a podium spot, a delayed pitstop for Vettel midway through the race which took over six seconds ultimately put the German out of contention.
Even with that, he didn’t display much confidence in reaching the pack at the front.
This is the first campaign in which he has been outperformed by a team-mate at Ferrari, with Leclerc finishing ahead of him in the drivers’ championship, and he knows he needs to get back to his best for 2020.
“We didn't have the year we were hoping for, full stop. I think the reasons are clear and the lessons are clear.” he said at Yas Marina.
“As a team, we must be stronger. As an individual I must do better, I can do better. It wasn't a great year, from my side.”

Looking ahead to next season, Vettel insists Ferrari must find a package to be able to compete with the other title contenders, Mercedes and Red Bull.
“I don't think it was as bad as it looks because there were many small things leading to not a great picture in the end,” he said of Ferrari’s season.
“I'm the first one to look at myself, I'm honest. I know I can do better. That's for sure the target next year, that step forward.
“Hopefully, we get a stronger package as well to fight with Mercedes and Red Bull in the front.”
