Alex Albon set the pace in a wet first practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix, but a late-session rush for soft tyres ended with the Red Bull man in the wall.
Albon's team-mate Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton barely completed a lap between them as teams undertook wet-tyre running throughout FP1.
As the track dried, most drivers rushed to fit slicks for the final five minutes, incuding Verstappen and Hamilton.
While Verstappen spun at the Senna esses, avoiding contact with the barriers, Albon was not so lucky, skidding front-first into the wall at Juncao.
Albon was able to walk away seemingly unscathed, although the impact was strong enough to prompt the medical car's deployment.
