The Toro Rosso roared into a podium spot.

Daniil Kyvat declared himself delighted with his surprising podium position in the Toro Rosso at the German Grand Prix, adding that competing in the race was 'like a horror movie.'

In a crazy race a series of pit stops to change tyre strategy upended the field, with Sebastian Vettel cutting his way through the field from last position to finish second behind Max Verstappen.

Kyvat produced a superb drive to cling onto third spot and when speaking to Martin Brundle after the race he appeared relieved to have got round the final few laps in one piece, as other drivers spun out with regularity.

He said: "It was amazing. It's incredible to be back on the podium and a moment for Toro Rosso.

"The race was crazy finally I managed to put everything together to get this podium and I'm really happy.

"It was a horror movie with a bit of black comedy. It was tough and I thought the race was done for me but it got alive again and it was incredible day."
