Where will Mick Schumacher race in 2019?
Mick Schumacher's European Formula 3 title win has answered many questions about his driving talent, but thrown up one big one – where will he race in 2019? The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is suddenly a man in demand and seems to have many options available.WILL MICK SCHUMACHER RACE IN FORMULA 1 IN 2019?
Never say never in F1, but it seems unlikely that the 19-year-old will make the huge step up next year. Lance Stroll made the F3-F1 jump in 2017, and has backed Schumacher to do likewise, however a lack of seats is his real issue.
For the next season's grid to be almost completely shaped at this time of year is somewhat odd. Although four seats remain unconfirmed, it's only really the spare places at Toro Rosso and Williams where a bit of mystery lies.
Toro Rosso have been linked with a move for the German, who may be of interest to Red Bull down the line, but Dr Helmut Marko has said he is not on the shortlist. However, with reported top target Pascal Wehrlein heavily linked with a Formula E deal, things could still change…

WILL MICK SCHUMACHER RACE IN FORMULA 2 IN 2019?
This certainly appears to be the most likely option. Schumacher won his F3 title with Prema, who also have an F2 entry – running McLaren junior Nyck de Vries and Sean Gelael in 2018.
De Vries is fourth in the championship with one meet to go, having picked up victories in France, Hungary and Spa and the Dutchman could be a perfect mentor for Schumacher at this level if he sticks around.
Moving up more gradually is certainly not a barrier to making it to the top, just ask Charles Leclerc, who followed a GP3 title win in 2016 with another championship-winning year in F2 and will race for Ferrari in 2019.
WILL MICK SCHUMACHER RACE IN FORMULA E IN 2019?
Almost certainly not. After Stoffel Vandoorne's move to HWA, just two seats are still to be filled ahead of pre-season testing for the all-electric series.
FE's fifth season begins in December, giving Schumacher little time to get acclimatised to the machinery.
If things in F1 or F2 fall through, a mid-season switch could always happen, but expect the 19-year-old to target a place on the ladder up to F1.
WHERE ELSE COULD MICK SCHUMACHER RACE IN 2019?
Super Formula could offer Schumacher a chance to race open-wheel cars away from the glare of European series and the Japanese competition has helped the likes of Vandoorne and Pierre Gasly – a Red Bull driver in '19 – gear up for tilts at F1.
Similarly a bunch of seats in IndyCar are still to be filled for next year, but it is likely that Schumacher will wish to remain in Europe.
He has raced at DTM events this year in European F3, but with enough open-wheel options likely on the table, don't expect to see Schumacher in a touring car next year.
