Albon is the third driver to have had a contract announced this week, with Fernando Alonso confirmed at Aston Martin and Piastri at Alpine, albeit the latter remains open to debate.
After his unveiling, Piastri announced on social media: "I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year.
"This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year."
The comments of the Australian have been widely mocked by a number of companies and sports teams, with announcements the 21-year-old will be joining them next year.
Albon has now become the latest personality to jump on this trend, twisting Piastri's comments to confirm his Williams extension.
"I understand that, with my agreement, Williams Racing have put out a press release this afternoon that I am driving for them next year," wrote Albon.
"This is right and I have signed a contract with Williams for 2023. I will be driving for Williams next year."
Taking the joke in good spirits, Piastri replied, "Congrats mate."
