Ferrari-Haas relationship "hasn't changed dramatically" despite Maranello office

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has insisted the outfit's relationship with Ferrari has not "changed dramatically" despite using a dedicated office at Maranello.

The American-owned team has had a close alliance with Ferrari since joining the sport, legally purchasing various components as part of the car's structure.

The Scuderia saw an outflux of staff with the introduction of F1's budget cap but with a design office for Haas being set up in Maranello, a migration of staff between teams took place.

Asked how different the relationship between the two teams had been since the design office had opened, Steiner replied: "The relationship...I wouldn't say it has changed dramatically.

"We always had a good relationship but the relationship is also regulated by the FIA rules. You cannot do more now just because we are sitting in Maranello.

"That is convenient, there were offers available because of the budget cap coming in and Ferrari had planned the building so we took advantage of that, that there was office space available and obviously, we have about 30, 35 people from Ferrari which moved over to us because of the budget cap in F1.

"But the relationship, the collaboration hasn't changed for better or worse. It is the same, we are just now sitting inside Maranello with a large group of people.

"We always had people in the wind tunnel office. We have got two offices now in Maranello - one in the wind tunnel and one where the designers and aerodynamicists sit.

"When we were in the wind tunnel, we always had an office where our people could sit, we didn't have to stand around in the control room of the wind tunnel."
