POLL: Should Michael Masi continue as FIA race director?
Masi has been in the firing line of late
FIA race director Michael Masi has faced a barrage of criticism of late following his handling of events in grands prix this season, notably towards the tail end of the F1 campaign.
Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, in particular, proved to be Masi's nadir due to the way he co-ordinated proceedings in the wake of Nicholas Latifi's crash that sparked a late safety car.
Masi's decisions played a key role in Red Bull driver Max Verstappen becoming F1 champion instead of Lewis Hamilton, leading to a protest from Mercedes that was rejected by the stewards.
That subsequently led to the threat of an appeal from Mercedes that was withdrawn hours before the deadline, but with team principal Toto Wolff claiming he and Hamilton had been left disillusioned.
So is Masi the right man to continue in the role; should he move on, or does he simply need a right-hand man to assist him, as Herbie Blasch did with the late Charlie Whiting?
