Verstappen summoned to stewards for alleged parc fermé breach

Max Verstappen has been summoned to see the São Paulo Grand Prix stewards on Saturday for an alleged breach of parc fermé conditions.

The decision comes in the wake of the stewards adjourning a hearing into a technical infringement on Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes relating to the DRS.

The stewards have put that hearing on hold while it awaits further evidence, which may now be testimony from Verstappen.

Following qualifying on Friday, a video appeared on Twitter from a Brazilian fan that showed Verstappen first inspecting and touching the rear wing of his Red Bull, and then doing the same to Hamilton's car.

That video can be viewed below.

Verstappen and a team representative will see the stewards at 9.30am local time [12.30pm GMT] for an alleged breach of article 2.5.1 of the International Sporting Code.

The relevant article states: "Inside the parc fermé, only the officials assigned may enter. No operation, checking, tuning or repair is allowed unless authorised by the same officials or by the applicable regulations."
