F1 introduces new TV graphics to raise PU efficiency awareness

F1 will introduce new graphics at this weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix in order to raise awareness of the efficiency of the sport's power units as it pushes its sustainability drive.

F1 has targeted to be carbon neutral by 2030 and it is expected that by the start of the next decade there will be 1.8billion cars on the roads.

With only eight per cent of those being electric vehicles, it is clear other solutions will be needed and F1 is in the process of developing a 100 per cent sustainable fuel that would also be available for use outside of the sport around the world.

Until that time comes, however, F1 must raise its profile in terms of how it is tackling the sustainability issue and one such area that isn't currently highlighted is the efficiency of the current crop of power units.

The V6 turbo-hybrids achieve 52 per cent thermal efficiency, the most efficient anywhere on the planet, with no light vehicle achieving 40 per cent.

With awareness needed, F1 will roll out new branding around the TV interview pen, throughout the paddock, in the pitlane and through TV graphics, ensuring the efficiency of the turbo-hybrids is pushed to each and every consumer of the sport.
