Bottas warns of "more to come" after overshadowing Hamilton
Valtteri Bottas has warned there is "more to come" from him this weekend despite the blistering pace set by Mercedes during Friday practice for the Russian Grand Prix.
Bottas completed a clean sweep at the Sochi Autodrom, heading team-mate Lewis Hamilton in both sessions and finishing two-tenths of a second faster than third-placed Pierre Gasly in FP2.
The Mercedes driver has always had an affinity with the Russian venue, taking the first and last of his nine victories to date at Sochi, with a 10th potentially in the offing.
"It can always go better but if you look at the timings and based on the feelings, it was a good day," said Bottas.
"From the first run, I had good confidence with the car and balance was actually very good.
"All we had to do was minor adjustments through the day and focus on the driving so finding small gains here and there. Both short and long runs are pretty comfortable."
The weather is set to cause a stir, at least on Saturday as heavy rain is forecast that could potentially lead to qualifying taking place on Sunday morning.
Bottas added: "There is more to come but I think tomorrow is going to be wet so will be a completely different day.
"At least we got some practice runs, some decent long-running and the main thing is the car feels good for long runs for Sunday, which could be dry. I think tomorrow is going to be a bit of a different prospect."
