Massa wants Alonso in Formula E
Massa wants Alonso in Formula E
Felipe Massa believes he could be reunited with former Ferrari team-mate Fernando Alonso in the future on the Formula E grid.
Alonso has taken on several different series in recent years, having left Formula 1 at the end of 2018, including IndyCar, WEC and a recent foray into rally-raid competition as he prepares for a tilt at the 2020 Dakar Rally.
FE chairman Alejandro Agag has previously confirmed his intention to bring his fellow Spaniard to the all-electric series, while Alonso's Toyota team-mate in WEC Sebastien Buemi, FE champion in 2016, said earlier this year: "We spoke a lot about Formula E, and he's been following it very closely."
Massa is one of nine former grand prix drivers on the FE grid for the 2019-20 season and believes the chances of Alonso making it 10 are high, certainly higher than the Brazilian taking to the dunes any time soon.
"It will be a great experience for him and something different for all the fans," Massa told Soy Motor of Alonso's Dakar efforts.
"It will be very difficult, it is a great challenge for any driver, so it will be great to see him compete there. I would not do it, but it will be great to see him there.
"I think it will be easier for me to convince Alonso to go to Formula E for him to take me to the Dakar!
"I think it is possible for Alonso to come to Formula E in the future. With Fernando, anything is possible."
Alonso will drive for Toyota once gain at the Dakar, which begins on January 5 in Saudi Arabia.
