Hamilton warns Leclerc to expect 'aggressive' Singapore start

Lewis Hamilton says he will be "aggressive" with Charles Leclerc from the off at the Singapore Grand Prix, after missing out on pole position to the Ferrari man.

Ferrari had not been expected to be strong in Singapore, despite Leclerc winning the last two races from pole.

But an upgraded SF90 and a supreme lap from Leclerc secured a hat-trick for the Monegasque, who now has more pole positions than anyone in Formula 1 this year.

Hamilton admitted his surprise to see Leclerc take P1 ahead of him, as he looks for a treble of his own, having won in Singapore the last two years.

And after losing out to Leclerc in a fraught battle at Monza a fortnight ago, Hamilton waned he will not hold back on the street circuit in Singapore.

"I don't know where Ferrari picked up their pace today, because this could potentially be not one of their tracks, but they did a great job," Hamilton said.

"Charles obviously put some great laps in. I really needed something special at the end, I gave it absolutely everything I had.

"Very, very close. It was as much as I could get out the car, and I'm happy to be on the front row in the mix with them.

"Tomorrow we can be aggressive."
