Hubert tributes held on F2 Monza podium

Hubert tributes held on F2 Monza podium

Anthoine Hubert was commemorated on the podium at Monza after both of Formula 2's races at the Italian Grand Prix.

Hubert lost his life after crashing in F2's previous round in Belgium. Juan Manuel Correa is in an induced coma in hospital as he battles respiratory failure, having suffered broken legs and spinal injuries in the same incident.

Saturday's Monza feature race was the first time that F2 had raced since the incident, with Nobuharu Matsushita taking victory ahead of Luca Ghiotto and Nyck de Vries.

The three drivers stepped off the podium and the French national anthem played, rather than the Japanese, in honour of Hubert.

Jack Aitken held on from pole position to win Sunday's race, and was a fitting winner as he was a member of Renault's driver academy alongside Hubert.

Joined by Jordan King and De Vries on the podium, the trio held aloft a French flag and once again refrained from spraying champagne in tribute to Hubert.
