Hamilton explains how Mercedes have stayed on top of F1
Silver Arrows domination.
Lewis Hamilton has provided an insight as to why Mercedes have enjoyed so much success over the last few years, and it all comes down to the mentality and atmosphere behind the scenes.
The Silver Arrows have dominated Formula 1 since the introduction of the V6 hybrid engine, winning every constructors’ and drivers’ championship since 2014, while they are well on course to claim their sixth title in a row in 2019.
Hamilton has won four out of his five world championships with the team within that period, with Mercedes more often than not providing him with the best car on the grid.
It is not himself, or the car, which the Brit attributes to their success, however, but the team dynamics which develop over time as each member strives for improvement.
“I don’t believe we are ever complacent, we always arrive with the same mentality,” he said.
“We have had all this success but everyone continues to work just as hard. No one is better than the other, we all lift each other up.

“These eight wins in the first half of the season is obviously exceptional. I look at those races and I think: ‘Eight out of 12, there are still some missing, how did we miss those ones? How were we not perfect those weekends?’
“We have to continue to arrive and deliver as we have but we are not perfect by far. We still have areas where we can continue to improve.”
Hamilton has been in blistering form in the 2019 campaign and has won eight out of the opening 12 races, putting him ahead of Valtteri Bottas in second and Max Verstappen in third in the current driver rankings.
