Jamie Chadwick made history on Sunday when she became the first-ever winner of the inaugural women-only W Series.

The final race of the campaign took place at Brands Hatch, and it would be Chadwick starting on pole. She ended up finishing fourth, describing it as “the worst race of her life”, with Alice Powell winning on the day, but the fourth-place finish generated enough points to seal the championship.

"I felt good in the beginning and I knew I had the championship to fight for, and these guys had nothing to lose," Chadwick said after the emotional victory.

"The pressure got to me a little bit, but I think it's going to sink in in a minute."

The series took place over six races - two in Germany and one each in Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, and Great Britain.

Chadwick won two of the races in Hockenheim and then in Misano, Italy.
