Red Bull: F1 would be boring without us
A biased view, admittedly...
Red Bull and Max Verstappen are currently saving Formula 1 from being boring due to their performances over the last few months, says team principal Christian Horner.
The Dutchman has won two out of the last four races including thrillers in Austria and Germany, as well as finishing fifth in Britain and second in the Hungarian Grand Prix this past weekend. He has also been involved in sensational duels with both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
With Ferrari out-of-sorts, Horner says “Thank God” for his team to be able to compete with Mercedes, as if not it would be a boring spectacle.
“Thank God for Red Bull and Max Verstappen for Formula 1 at the moment because otherwise it would be a pretty boring show,” the Red Bull boss said.
“But I think it’s great that races like today [Hungarian GP], even though we didn’t come out on top. I think for Formula 1, that’s what the fans want to see.

“I think the last four races in reality have been great races after the bore-fest of France. Hopefully with tracks that we’ve got coming up there’s exciting races to come.
“If the grid does concertina, if we can have Max racing against Lewis and the Ferraris up there as well, it’s bright for the future.”
Verstappen is currently third in the drivers’ championship, seven points behind Valtteri Bottas in second.
Red Bull, meanwhile, are third in the constructor rankings.
