Wolff optimistic about 2021 regulation talks
They are taking place next week
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes that “momentum” is growing for productive talks between Formula 1 teams, Liberty Media, and the FIA to finally make progress on decisions for new regulations within the sport which will come into place for the 2021 season.
The biggest change in the sport set to be introduced is a cost cap which would impact the top three teams - Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull - the most due to how much they spend each season. Wolff is willing to accept a compromise on this regulation as long as it makes sense.

"I feel that there's some momentum in the process," said Wolff.
"And we are all keen on understanding how 2021 looks."
“Mercedes certainly is interested in having a cost cap implemented, at the right levels, so it makes sense for everybody.
"Get the big teams on board in a way that is implementable. And the small teams to kind of at least cap us, and make sure that we're not running away with even higher costs every year.

"And regulations are obviously another big building block, this is important to get over the line until June. So let's see how next week goes, but what I hear is making me optimistic."
A deadline of June 2019 has been set in order for the regulations to be agreed, and they will be discussed next week in London during a meeting with the F1 Strategy Group and the F1 commission.
