McLaren drivers sing the praises of "down-to-earth" boss Seidl

Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz have sung the praises of McLaren boss Andreas Seidl saying the Austrian "gets the best out of everyone".

Under Seidl's watch over the past two years, the team has bounced back from a position of struggle to be contenders for a top-three position in the constructors' championship.

For Norris, Seidl is the only team boss he has experienced working with first-hand in F1 but the Briton was nonetheless fulsome in his tribute. "He is a very down-to-earth guy who understands a lot of what the drivers feel and what they need and how to allow drivers to perform at their best," said Norris.

"But also how to lead the team in the best way possible and involve us, and anyone who needs to be involved, and get the best out of everyone.

"It’s difficult for me to really make comparisons, but at the same time he is someone I have understood very well so far, I get along with very well, and we have seen big changes within the team, the atmosphere, the mentality of everyone.

"He has been a big part of that. So from what I have seen it has been positive so far."

Asked of the impact Seidl has had, Sainz, who raced against McLaren during the team's slump, said: "Andreas has done a very good job for McLaren.

"You only need to see the results and how far the team has come forward in the last months that he has been working with us.

"I don’t have other than good words for Andreas. I have learned quite a lot from him in the last few months, about his style of leadership, but I am not going to do any comparisons."
