Ferrari 2020 normal is "not good enough" - Vettel

Sebastian Vettel has issued a damning verdict on the current performance of the Ferrari SF1000, stating "our normal is not good enough".

Ferrari has dropped into the midfield in 2020, having previously enjoyed a position as the chief title rivals to Mercedes.

Following the conclusion of the Hungarian Grand Prix Vettel explained: "It's positive that the car's performance on a Sunday was back to normal, but it's also not a secret that at the moment our normal is not good enough to really put the people ahead under pressure."

He added: "Obviously our mission, our target is to do a better job than the others, so in that regard, we fell a bit short."

Vettel finished sixth in Hungary but, while accepting the team maximised its Saturday potential in locking out the third row of the grid, he refused to blame individuals for the problems suffered in the race.

Conversely, German accepted both himself and team-mate Charles Leclerc needed to "be faster inside the car to make the call" to pit in changeable conditions and added: "By the time we pitted I think I got a bit stuck with the traffic in the pit lane.

"On the tyre choice, it's something we decide as a team. Charles came in the lap before, it was still mixed conditions, and normally you struggle with the medium and the hard to warm them up, so the soft is more straightforward."

"There was rain in the air that didn't come, just drops. Afterwards is always easy but other people did better than us, in terms of making their calls early on."

After three races, Ferrari sit fifth in the constructors standings, although they trail leaders Mercedes by close to 100-points.
