Leclerc determined to speak up on team radio
Like Vettel does...
Charles Leclerc reckons he needs to talk more on Ferrari team radio as it will enable him to be more decisive, as he comes off a disappointing Mexican Grand Prix in which he finished fourth.
Thanks to Max Verstappen being given a penalty, Leclerc was promoted to pole position for the race on Sunday. After a good start, strategies started to play a major part in the rankings, as his race was ultimately derailed by a botched pitstop which cost him four seconds up against the other leading cars.
After previously suggesting, earlier in the season, that he would actually dial down his comments on team radio, he has now went in the other direction.
“I think I still need to do some work, in the race especially, because you see it’s a tendency of the last few weekends and today,” he told Sky Sports in Mexico City
“Okay the strategy has not been good, but I should probably have come on the radio and ask for something and be more decisive in the decision to try to help the team make the right decision on my side, which Seb did.
“I need to learn from that and hopefully it will come with time.”

Ferrari implemented a two-stop strategy during the race, and it was on his second pit that the tyre delay cost him those vital seconds. However, he doesn’t think this is the only factor which left him struggling in P4.
“This is not the only answer,” he explained when asked if Ferrari’s strategy cost him the win or a podium.
“The second stint was not particularly great, I didn’t feel good on this medium compound, the first medium felt a lot better so we need to analyse and understand this.
“We did the first stop pretty early to cover the position from [Alex] Albon, then we knew it was going to be a two-stop race and all the others went for a one-stop, so then it was very difficult.”
