Ricciardo excluded from Singapore qualifying over power breach

Daniel Ricciardo will start the Singapore Grand Prix after his Renault was found to have broken regulations regarding electrical power usage in qualifying.

Ricciardo was found to have "exceeded the MGU-K power limit of 120 kW" during Q1 at the Marina Bay Circuit and was excluded from qualifying as a result.

The Australian had secured eighth place on the grid, one spot ahead of Renault team-mate Nico Hulkenberg to secure the qualifying battle between them this season.

Ricciardo has been on the podium four times previously, in each of his first four seasons as a Red Bull driver, although he finished sixth, after qualifying in the same spot 12 months ago.
