Horner warns: F1 in danger of over-saturation
Is 21 races already enough?
Christian Horner understands Liberty Media’s desire to reach as many fans as possible around the globe with Grand Prix races, but believes that adding any more could leave the Formula 1 calendar at “tipping point” due to the demands of a GP weekend.
In 2019 there will be 21 races between March and December, but the owners of the sport are looking to add even more, with a Vietnam GP already confirmed for next season as well as the likely return of the Dutch GP. There has also been speculation that they could introduce a secondary race in China, the UK, and the USA.

Horner says a correct balance must be found between attracting as many fans as possible, but understanding the huge amount of work that teams have to endure to prepare for a race weekend.
"I think it must be understood that a Grand Prix weekend is an event that lasts a whole week for us as a team," said Red Bull the Red Bull team principal to Motorsport Week.
"For the many other functions that come with Formula 1, 21 races mean we are much in demand. When we pass that number, we are at a tipping point. A book can have as many chapters and we want all those chapters to be as entertaining as possible.
The Brit reckons that if more races are added to the calendar, then F1 fans could become over-exposed to the product.
“What you don't want is for the audience to become saturated. I think a balance needs to be struck between the right number and the structure of a race weekend.”
