Verstappen knows what's coming from Honda

Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko has no concerns that Max Verstappen will grow impatient with Honda's development in 2019, saying the Dutchman is fully aware of crucial upgrades to come this year. Verstappen has finished fourth twice, adding to an Australia podium, so far in 2019, but has not been on the pace of the lead car in any race.

Superior racecraft and strategy helped Verstappen get the better of a Ferrari in Australia and China respectively, while he could have snuck a podium from the ailing Charles Leclerc in Bahrain if not for a late safety car.

Verstappen ended 2018 as one of the most in-form drivers on the grid, winning in Mexico and seeing a likely victory in Brazil taken away by a collision with Esteban Ocon.

Although he has not been in the fight for first so far this season, Marko has no concerns that Verstappen will begin to grow unsettled any time soon.

"Max knows what the development programs are, how things are going and what's coming, so no, I'm not worried," Marko told Formule 1.

"It is up to us to give Max the right package.

"He already has more than twice the number of points he had after three races last year.

"Max makes no mistakes and gets the most out of what we have."

Marko confirmed that a significant chassis upgrade will be brought to the Spanish Grand Prix next month, while it has been reported that Honda will give Red Bull and Toro Rosso a 20bhp boost in Azerbaijan next time out.
