Vettel reveals what was 'loose' between his legs

Sebastian Vettel has revealed that a loose screw was bouncing around his cockpit during Friday practice, not something a bit more risqué as he suggested over team radio to Ferrari. Vettel raised a chuckle during FP2 when he reported that something was loose between his legs.

Any disruptions clearly did not impact Vettel too much as he ran within a tenth of a second of the top time in both FP1 and FP2.

After reporting the issue in his cockpit, Vettel returned to the pits and later revealed that the truth was a bit more mundane than it might have seemed at the time.

"I think the biggest worry we had today was a little screw that came loose and was somewhere between my feet," he said. "We found it in the end!

"I said it [the message], and once I said it I thought 'no, don't get it wrong!' so I had to say it again. It was funny.

"But we found it in the end, it was a little screw."

Analysing the rest of his day, Vettel said: "Bigger than the screw. I think it was OK.

"I did decent laps, I think we learned about the tyres. We still have to improve the car because it doesn't feel good yet, still some work to do.

"If we get the balance in the window tomorrow then it [the battle] can be tight."
