Hamilton - F1 like a "theme park"
Hamilton was speaking to students from the Mulberry Schools Trust
Lewis Hamilton has likened F1 to a "theme park" and insisted the sport "never gets boring".
Hamilton has raced in F1 since 2007 and claimed almost every record available yet has returned for more this year, and with a contract ready to take the Briton through to the end of 2023.
The seven-time champion was taking part in a question and answer session with students from the Mulberry Schools Trust Group - the organisation Mercedes has partnered with to launch its STEM project.
Asked if he ever gets bored of racing in F1, Hamilton explained: "I don't get tired of racing because there are so many elements to the job, it is not just racing and going round in a circle as people think.
"You are working with a large group of people, there are photoshoots, you are travelling to all these destinations, there's a training regime.
"Then you get to do the fun part, which is the racing part which is like going to a theme park every weekend and riding a different rollercoaster.
"There are all these different tracks and you are finding new challenges so it never gets boring."
Hamilton hopeful W Series will promote female talent to F1
Hamilton is hopeful the W Series will help promote a female racing driver into F1.
No female driver has taken part in an official F1 session since Susie Wolff in first practice for the 2014 British Grand Prix. The last to attempt to qualify was Giovanna Amati in 1992, while the last to race was Lella Lombardi in 1976.
W Series again joins F1 on its travels around the world this season, with the winner given a cash prize to help make the move into formula racing.
Asked by a student if she could one day become a racing driver, Hamilton replied: "One hundred per cent you can be a racing driver.
"We have the W Series at the moment which is bringing through a lot of great female drivers. I am hoping at least one, or some of them, will eventually get through to Formula 1."
