Hamilton unaware of F1 points rules after "s**t" Saudi Arabian GP

Lewis Hamilton bizarrely questioned whether he would receive any points following his 10th-place finish in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Seven-time F1 champion Hamilton endured his worst qualifying session on pure pace alone since 2009 and lined up on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit grid 15th, his worst grid slot since the 2008 Italian GP.

Although Hamilton was able to make his way through the field and lapped for a period in sixth position, the placing was slightly false as he had not stopped during an early safety car period after starting on the hard-compound tyres.

After finally stopping inside the final 10 laps, Hamilton dropped to 12th, and by the chequered flag had just clambered into the top 10.

Speaking on the radio afterwards, Hamilton's race engineer, Pete Bonnington, said: "Okay Lewis, so that's P10.

"Sorry about that. It's a bit of a s*** result given all the hard work."

In response, Hamilton questioned: "Is there even a point for that position?"

"Yeah, we do get a point," Bonnington confirmed.

Reflecting on the evening's work, Hamilton said to his team: "That was a tough day in the office guys but thank you so much for trying."
