F1 to "move on" from pre-race kneeling to "take other actions"

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has confirmed the sport will "move on" from taking the knee before races as part of changes to the 'We Race as One' messaging.

The majority of F1 drivers and teams have knelt ahead of each grand prix across the past two years as the sport showed its commitment to tackling a number of social issues.

For the coming season, F1 has confirmed it will be "transitioning to a new way of raising awareness" with a focus being placed on "driving forward with action".

Asked by Sky Sports if there would be a chance for drivers to continue taking the knee ahead of races, Domenicali said: “No.

"I think that what we have said is that we do not have to do politics. But I think now it is the matter [of moving] from gestures to actions. Now the action is the focus on the diversity of our community and this is the first step.”

F1 has confirmed a video promoting the 'We Race as One' message will continue to be played ahead of each race but pressed if the topic remained "under discussion", Domenicali reiterated: “No.

"I think that the gesture has been already important for people that believed it was an important gesture because we need to respect everyone, as always, but now is the time to move on and take some other actions.”
