Williams set for 'bromance' swap when Albon replaces Russell
Nicholas Latifi believes his positive relationship with the incoming Alex Albon will serve to push Williams forward in the new aerodynamic era of F1.
After two years of racing alongside George Russell at Williams, Latifi will be reunited with former F2 team-mate Albon next season.
Asked what could be expected from the Thai-British driver, Latifi commented: “We’ve seen what we can expect from him in Formula 1 from the last two years [at Red Bull]. “I think he’s a really quick driver. I rate him extremely highly. When I was team-mates with him in F2, we got along on a very personal level on track and off track.
“That dynamic is going to be really positive in the team as well. I have a great relationship with George - even outside of the holiday bromance we did!
“That is very important, especially going into new regulations for drivers to get on and have that good morale to give a little bit of a nice atmosphere in the team."
As well as the pair's relationship serving as an asset on the track, Latifi is confident the energy can also be directed positively in the factory.
“On the more business side of things, we know what we are here to do is to drive race cars fast and, as I said, I believe he is a very quick driver," added Latifi.
“I learned a lot from him in my year racing against him in 2018 and I know we’re going to push each other extremely hard into these new cars.”
