Red Bull kept "fighting" with season-best pit time - Horner

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has praised his team for keeping "fighting" to lower the pit stop benchmark for the season despite a troubled Hungarian Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez retired on lap one at the Hungaroring following contact with Valtteri Bottas with Max Verstappen also sustaining damage in the incident after Lando Norris was skittled into him.

Red Bull raced to repair the damage to Verstappen's car during the ensuing red flag but despite the team's best efforts, Horner assessed: “Let’s just say I think Mick Schumacher had more downforce than Max today."

When Verstappen pitted on lap 40, however, Red Bull once again proved its prowess with the team lowering the season-best time from 1.93secs to 1.88s.

“The mechanics lowered the pitstop time for this year as well, certainly on our watches so we keep fighting," said Horner.

Red Bull currently holds the outright record with an effort of 1.82s set at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2019.
