Zero positive cases in latest round of F1 Covid-19 testing

Formula 1 has confirmed the latest round of Covid-19 testing has returned zero positive results.

Even though there is no grand prix this weekend, F1 has continued the rigorous coronavirus testing programme to ensure the safety of team personnel and officials ahead of the British Grand Prix on August 2.

Via a statement on Twitter, Formula 1 said: "The FIA and Formula 1 can today confirm that between Friday 17th July and Thursday 23rd July, 1,461 tests for COVID-19 have been performed on drivers, teams and personnel. Of these, zero people have tested positive.

"The lower number of tests conducted in this period compared to previous weeks reflects the fact there is a break in the race schedule following three back to back events."

In total, 15,056 tests have now been taken, with only two returning a positive result and neither individual concerned was associated with a specific team.

FIA race director Michael Masi has also warned that, despite the successful return to action for F1, the sport cannot become complacent as, "Covid-19 is very much around us and everywhere globally."
