Ferrari Boss Mattia Binotto: " Winning Cycles Take Time"

Ferrari Boss Mattia Binotto has said that he is not expecting Championship success, whilst only into his second season as team director with the Italian team.

Speaking to Che Tempo Che Fa on broadcast alongside team drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, the 50-year-old has warned Ferrari fans not to expect a commanding era too soon.

“It would be wrong to make predictions, last year we did well at the tests then there was the cold shower in Australia.” Speaking of what looked to be a strong season ahead of them in 2019 after such a display down under in pre-season.

However, the Ferrari man is committed to the cuase and that patience will help pay off saying that they are making the foundations towards it.

“We’re a young team, we’re trying to build, winning cycles takes time, F1 is very competitive.”

Vettel and Leclerc will be hoping to push Mercedes all the way

Whilst it seems ‘The Prancing Horse’ have a promising starlet in Monégasque Leclerc plus the experience of four-time world champion Vettel, they have yet to win a F1 championship since 2007 with former driver Kimi Räikkönen now at Alfa Romeo Racing.

There have been recent questions over the pairing, but this does not seem to worry the boss, giving his confidence in the talent of the driver. “They are the best pairing in the championship!”

It will be seen if such incidents such as the Brazil collision can be avoided and hope to put real pressure on rivals Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

It’s without question that Ferrari will be battling it out with Mercedes for the Championship titles, yet the Italian has also praised the fact that all opposition have become stronger; “Never before have opponents been so strong, but the commitment is there.”
