'Mighty' Mercedes to bounce back in Hungary - Red Bull
Hungaroring to suit the Silver Arrows?
Red Bull boss Christian Horner expects Mercedes to be back to their best at this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, as he thinks the track suits their strength of going round slow corners.
The German GP weekend was a failure for the Silver Arrows as Lewis Hamilton only secured a points-finish after Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi were given penalties post-race, while Valtteri Bottas crashed out of the race altogether for a DNF.
They still maintain a healthy lead in the constructors’ championship, and Horner reckons they will bounce back from their disappointments last weekend due to the characteristics of the Hungaroring track.
“Hungary is a track we enjoy going to,” the Red Bull team principal told Autosport.
“But Mercedes’s slow corner performance is pretty mighty, and I think they’re going to be tough opponents.”
Max Verstappen won the German GP in the chaotic weather which makes it two victories out of the last three races for the Dutchman including the win in Austria. Horner believes the team are on the up and thinks they can improve even more after the summer break.

“We have been getting more performance on the car,” he added.
“The chassis’s been getting better, the engine’s been getting better and I think we have got some good stuff in the pipeline for the second half of the year.
“We’ve got stable regulations from 2019 into ’20, so whatever we learn this year applies to next year.
“So we want to keep the trajectory going the way we are.”
