Lewis Hamilton staked his latest claim to be one of the all-time greats in Formula 1, taking out his fifth world drivers' title at the Mexican Grand Prix. Hamilton's triumph was met with an outpouring of celebration and congratulations from across the F1 world.

Hamilton finished fourth in Mexico, where he required a top-seven finish to beat Sebastian Vettel to the title.

Hamilton is now level with Juan Manuel Fangio, with only Michael Schumacher above on seven titles.

Rivals past and present were quick to hail Hamilton who has been widely backed to go on and match or even better Schumacher's title haul.
